Sa’d ibn Ubadah reported that he asked the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), “O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died. Shall I give charity on her behalf?” The Prophet (ﷺ), said, “Yes.” I said, “Which charity is best?” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “A drink of water.”
For £1,250, you can build a bore-hole well (Uganda / Sierra Leone / Kenya) which can provide clean drinking water for a village of up to 1,000 people. This well will act as a Sadaqah Jariyah for you or a family member for as long as it is functioning and saving lives in the community.
