in support of Camden United Cic
Dear friends of Camden United,
We are writing to you today to ask for your support for Camden United FC.
Since launching in 2019 we have increased membership and currently support over 170 members who play completely free of charge and are signed up to our five different groups including the Men's Team, Women's Team, Under 17’s, Under 15’s and an Under 13’s team.
As many Community projects and Charities across the UK, we are facing financial difficulties with an increase in delivery costs and a spike in demand we need to raise £35,000. We are working hard to secure match funding from Trusts and Foundations to further embed Camden United in the community for future generations.
Camden United is not your regular football club; we exist to change the lives of young people. Our ethos is based on community engagement, uniting the local diverse groups as well as battling peer pressure and tackling gang influences.
Our sports-based youth work as an important factor in addressing gang culture and enhancing community cohesion, allowing our future generation to have the ability to create a positive impact within society and giving them tools to enhance their wide range of existing skills.
Our teams meet, train and play twice a week, led by young qualified coaches from Camden with lived experience of the issues we are trying to tackle.
We have big plans and aspirations to become Camden’s first ever semi-professional club, filling a gap in the borough that currently lacks a professional or semi-professional team. We have the opportunity to capture local, national and international attention and generate thousands of fans for a grassroots community borough-led football team.
Your support at this challenging time would make a huge difference and enable us to maintain activities until the end of this school year/season!
How to donate: You can make a one-off donation, a regular monthly donation or set up your own individual fundraiser and share it with your friends and family, there is a leaderboard which shows who has fundraised the most and we will have prizes for top fundraisers!
Any contribution, no matter how small, would make a huge difference and help us to continue providing a positive and supportive environment for young people in our community.
In memory of our dear Brother Abdulaziz Munye:
Our founder and dear brother, Abdulaziz Munye, passed away from a heart attack at the age of 26 on the 28th of October 2022
. The outpour of love that we have received since has been overwhelming, with a tribute from Keir Starmer, our local MP and Leader of the Labour Party. Tributes also came in from the Leader of Camden Council, Georgia Gould, and the Mayor of Camden, Nasim Ali, which were featured on the front page of the Camden New Journal.
With our community’s support, we raised £15,563 as Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity) which his family are using to help those in underprivileged countries. This fundraiser is not related to that and will go directly towards the running costs of Camden United.
Abdulaziz set up Camden United to help combat youth violence in our community. He had personally experienced the loss of multiple friends to tensions within Camden and believed that football was the only way to make meaningful change and give back to the community. Removing barriers for young people to take part in football was very important to him, which is why we provide free football sessions to young people in our community.
We are reaching out to our community for support to keep Abdulaziz's legacy alive and continue the important work that we do with Camden United.
If you would like to learn more about our organisation or find out how you can help, please don't hesitate to contact us at admin@camdenunitedfc.com. We would be happy to arrange a chat or discuss other ways that you can support us.
Thank you for your consideration and for supporting our mission to create a brighter future for young people in Camden.
Sincerely,
The Camden United FC Team
