IDENTIFYING THE PROBLEM

The vast majority of Muslim children in England, Scotland and Wales attend state-funded schools.  There are major problems with what they teach and the impact this is having on our children.

We cannot afford to ignore the dangers.  We are already witnessing the impact.

Young Muslim boys identifying as ‘gay’, Muslim girls wanted to be ‘boys’, young Muslims leaving Islam.

WHAT DO WE DO TO SUPPORT MUSLIM FAMILIES?

That is why the Muslim Family Initiative (formerly SREIslamic) is so important.  We are the only organisation that Muslim parents in England, Scotland and Wales can turn to help with challenging inappropriate teaching in schools. 

Muslim Family Initiative is the only organisation:

Supporting parents to proactively challenge the ‘LGBT’ agenda in schools.

Empowering communities to challenge the impact of a hypersexualisd society in which ‘LGBTQ’ normalisation is on the increase.

Advocating for changes to the way RSE/RSHP is taught in schools.

Guiding parents to speak to their children about sex, relationships and ‘LGBTQ’.

WHAT IMPACT HAVE WE HAD?

Muslim Family Initiative has:

1. held over 1,000 workshops and seminars across the country.

2. trained over 200 RSE Champions across England, Scotland and Wales to support parents in their communities. over the past year, we have produced a guide to encourage Muslims in Scotland to respond to the RSHP Guidance consultation and a guide to support Muslims in England respond to the consultation on ‘Gender-Questioning Children’.  We have also produced an in-depth report that highlights the concerns with RSE teaching in England’s schools.

​​​​​​​3. For Pride Month, we produced a learning resource to empower parents to discuss ‘LGBTQ’ with their children titled, “Raising Proud Muslims, Not Pride Muslims”. This has been downloaded over 10,000 times.

WHY DO YOU NEED SUPPORT TO US? 

The ‘LGBTQ’ Challenge and its dangerous impact is not likely to go away, at least in the short-term.  We are well-positioned to support parents to meet this challenge in a proactive way. 

We therefore need your support to increase our reach and impact. 

2023-2024 PLANS

Over the next year we plan to:

1. Increase the numbers of RSE Champions. We have scheduled six one-day, in-person training sessions and one online training session.  Over the next year we want to double the number of RSE Champions from 200 to 400. This will see a marked increase in awareness being raised, parents being empowered to challenge inappropriate teaching in schools and positive outcomes for our children. 

2. Build the newly launched Muslim Family Initiative website so that it becomes a one-stop shop for all parental queries and a resource to educate, support and guide Muslim parents, like you, to navigate the contemporary challenges.  We want to film more shorter video presentations, create guides, infographics, workbooks, khutbah templates and a Q&A compendium containing questions parents struggle to answer.  We also want to translate content into different community languages, to make our content accessible to the widest possible audience.

3. We plan to finalise the maktab programme, that will proactively build strength in Muslim children at a foundational as well a narrative level.

4. Just like we produced a unique research report highlighting the key concerns around RSE implementation in England, we want to make the case for changes to RSE in Wales and RSHP in Scotland, so that we can convince policy makers and opinion formers of the need for change.
