It is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to a cherished father, devoted community member, and a beacon of righteousness, Haji Somru Miah (may Allah have mercy on him). He departed this world on the 11th of December 2023, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, selflessness, and unwavering faith.

Haji Somru Miah was not only a beloved father and grandfather, but also a dedicated servant to his community. His commitment to regular congregational prayers, tireless efforts in aiding the less fortunate, and generous charity work (the orphanage and schools in Bangladesh) made him a revered figure amongst all who knew him.

For 21 years, he served as the muazzin, calling the adhan with a voice that engaged the hearts of congregants. His punctuality and unwavering presence in the mosque were a testament to his deep spiritual connection and commitment to fostering unity within the community.

He was more than a pillar of the mosque; he was a pillar of love, kindness, and humility. His legacy will continue to resonate through the lives he touched, and his memory will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

In addition to his connection to the mosque, he visited Bangladesh on an annual basis to continue with his charity work, and in particular with his beloved Madina Welfare Project, comprising of an orphanage, mosque, and two schools. This year he was approached for fundraising help for the construction of a nearby mosque, and numerous water wells from nearby deprived villages.

Given his generous nature, he committed to constructing 3 water wells himself, however Allah (swt) is the best of planners, and He had other plans for him.

With this campaign, we are hoping to fulfil his intention, and as a means of sadaqah jaariyah (an act of charity, that keeps on giving) for him and you, we would like to raise enough donations for the purpose of constructing the above mentioned mosque, and the remaining water wells (20 in total) in the hope that the benefit these initiatives bring have a lasting effect, in shaa Allah. 

We ask Allah to grant him mercy, forgiveness, eternal peace, and reward his soul for the generosity he has shown others, ameen.
