The community was shook after a housefire was reported on Saturday 24th June 2023 on St Thomas Street Oldham, whereby the tragic event resulted in a single mother, aged 42, to lose her life and return to her creator.

This unimaginable tragedy has left her two sons, 17 and 21, and her 15 year old daughter homeless and their lives shattered. With the daughter who also got caught in the fire, in a critical condition. They lost not only their mother who also played the role of their father, but have lost their assets, belongings and their home, they have been left with nothing. The fire consumed not only the four walls that provided them with shelter but also their hopes, dreams and sense of security. In these hard times they need our support more ever than before.

As well as offering our sincere condolences to the family and friends, we would like to take this opprtunity to raise funds to aid these children in their time of need, who are bereaving their mother, have suffered injuries and have become homeless by this tragedy. This fundraising is to help rebuild their lives from scratch and help them continue with their education, and any generous contributions will go directly towards providing them with a safe and stable living environment ensuring they have access to essentials.

The community are currently arranging the following events in aid to raise funds:

* A Bike Ride Event from Oldham to Halifax and back (85km) via canal route

* Half Marathon/10km run to raise awareness and funds

* Arranging a car wash event with BBQ and family activities

* Walk from Oldham (House where the fire started) via Hollins Rd fire station to fire station in Manchester

Anyones life can be turned upside down in a blink of an eye, like it has for this family. So let’s come together and help the family as much as we can, we humbly request for everyone’s help, even if it means donating as little as a £1. Let’s help as a community, united by compassion and empathy, and give them the fresh start they desperately need.
