At Muslim Family Initiative, we are proud to be the only organisation within the Muslim community that actively supports families in responding to the 'LGBTQ' challenge and other contemporary issues affecting our schools and the next generation of Muslims. We work tirelessly to help parents safeguard our children’s Islamic identity, ensuring that they are equipped to navigate a society that often promotes values at odds with our divine heritage.

What We Have Achieved Over the Past Year

Advocacy

Guidance Documents: We produced two comprehensive guidance documents to support parents in responding to key government consultations on changes to RSE and the teaching of ‘gender identity’ in schools. 

Campaign Launch – “Could Do Better”: We spearheaded the "Could Do Better" campaign, urging the Muslim community to write to prospective candidates during the 2024 General Election to highlight issues with RSE. Following the election, we sent a physical copy of our groundbreaking research, "Could Do Better," to all 543 MPs in England. The positive feedback from MPs and the Department for Education has bolstered our commitment to follow up once government changes to RSE are tabled.

Response to the Assisted Dying Bill: We mobilised the community to oppose a bill that seeks to legalise state-sanctioned suicide for terminally ill individuals, thereby protecting vulnerable people from potential state pressure.

"Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; if he is not able to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart, and that is the weakest form of faith." (Sahih Muslim)

Raising Proud Muslims, Not Pride Muslims

Learning Pack for Pride Month: In 2023, we launched a unique learning pack to help parents navigate Pride Month in schools. In 2024, we updated and expanded this resource, enabling parents to challenge inappropriate teaching and counter the false premises of ‘LGBTQ’ ideology.

RSE Champions Programme

Training and Support: We have trained over 250 Muslim men and women across the country. Our RSE Champions have held events and provided crucial guidance, helping parents address the challenges of RSE in schools and the wider influence of a hypersexualised society.

So compete with one another in doing good. Wherever you are, Allah will bring you all together ˹for judgment˺. Al-Baqarah (2:148)

Supporting Families Dealing with Same-Sex Attraction

Family Support Initiatives: Although not our initial focus, the rising need for support among families dealing with children identifying as ‘gay’/‘lesbian’ or struggling with gender identity issues has seen us step in. The number of families seeking our help has increased exponentially, highlighting the urgent need for dedicated support in this area.

“And know that your properties and your children are but a trial and that Allah has with Him a great reward.” Surah Al-Anfal (8:28)

Our Vision for the Coming Year

Survey on Parental Needs
We have launched a survey to determine the support that Muslim parents require to navigate these contemporary challenges. As the only organisation working directly in this area, our strategy for the coming year is entirely based on what parents have asked for.

RSE Toolkits
We will develop a series of practical toolkits covering a broad range of topics, including:

3. Strengthening Your Child's Emotional Resilience
4. Empowering Your Child to Navigate Social Media
5. Proactively Safeguarding Your Child from Child Sex Abuse

7. Enabling Your Child to Respond to 'LGBT' Ideology
8. Empowering Your Child to Dissect Trans Ideology
9. Shaping Your Child's Attitudes to Sexual Relationships
10. Why Fathers Matter in Raising Strong, Muslim Children
11. Helping Your Child Navigate the 'Gender' Extremes – Feminism and Red Pill Culture
12. Developing Your Child's Critical Thinking
13. Three Islamic Practices Fundamental in Nurturing Strong Muslim Children

These toolkits will be complemented by social media collateral, khutbah templates, webinars, and workshops across key cities in England.

Maktab/Madrassa Curriculum
We plan to launch our unique curriculum for madaaris/makaatib, empowering our children and reinforcing community spaces as bulwarks against the ideological challenges that threaten our divine values.

RSE Infoline Pilot Launch
In response to growing parental demand, we will pilot an RSE Infoline to provide immediate advice and guidance on navigating inappropriate teaching and wider parenting challenges Muslim parents face.
