Self-Sustainable projects are an amazing way to help individuals generate their own income to help provide for themselves and their families. They can support people for many years to come and give them their own independence and freedom
*People’s Foundation will allocate any donations made here to the next available self-sufficient project we implement so we cannot attach the payments to any specific campaign, unless the full price is contributed towards a specific cause using the impact buttons

Sewing Machines in Pakistan: £50 per sewing machine
By donating a sewing machine the recipient can earn income in several ways, whether by repairing or altering clothes for the general public or using it as a basis to start their own business
Fruit Carts in Pakistan: £150 per fruit cart
Fruit Carts are a great way for an individual to in essence have their own business. The carts are moveable on wheels so can be moved around to a location best suited for the seller. It can provide a consistent and steady form of income making the individual self-sufficient and this can set them up for the long term future
Petrol Rickshaw in Pakistan: £550 per rickshaw
By providing an individual with a petrol powered rickshaw you can help create a reliable and steady source of income for that person. As the rickshaws are petrol powered there is less effort required for the drivers as previous models that included just cycling. The individual can become self-sufficient and earn on a regular basis to provide basic necessities for themselves and any family members
Raising Cows in Bangladesh: £350 per small cow
By donating a small cow, a person can feed and look after the cow until such a time where it can be sold for a profit. This can be anywhere up to 25% of the initial investment. This provides the person with the means of re-investing in another small cow whilst also enjoying the benefits of the profit made. They may also sell the cow at any point and re-invest in another bigger cow or it may be sold to be used as meat for any other occasion
Electric Taxi in Bangladesh: £950 per taxi
An electric taxi will provide people with a means of earning an income through work and they can be self-sufficient and provide for themselves and their families. The advantage of the electric vehicle is that it uses no fuel therefore saving costs and better protecting the environment. The driver can charge the vehicle during the night and run it during the daytime
Chicken Farming in Zimbabwe:
1. Broiler Chickens: £260 (100 broiler chickens)
Broiler chickens are raised and sold after around 6 weeks for a profit. There is a high market demand for broiler chickens and they have a big profit margin and are easy to sell. The costs will cover feed (starter, growers and finisher), vaccines, feeders, drinkers and other expenses
2. Chicken Layers: £950 (100 point of lay chicks)
Point of lay chickens can start laying eggs after 4-6 weeks and can lay eggs for more than a year. There is always a high demand for eggs. After laying eggs they can also be sold for meat. The costs will cover feed (starter, growers and layers mash), vaccines, feeders, drinkers and other expenses
Business Startup in Zimbabwe:
1. Sewing Business: £250
This will provide the beneficiary with an electrical sewing machine, materials to get started and even training
Providing someone with a sewing machine is like giving them a lifetime asset which can be used continuously for a very long time. The beneficiary can learn and implement new skills and create an income through tailoring, repairing and maybe even creating their own clothes
2. Goat Business: £300 (10 Goats)
This will provide the beneficiary with 10 goats to start with as well as hay for the goats to feed on
Goats can be kept for a long time and multiply every year. They are easy to rear and can have many uses such as for meat or milk. It can provide a continued and sustainable source of income as the cycle continues year after year
3. Catering Business: £500
This will provide the beneficiary with catering equipment, food materials to get started and cover a few other expenses
A great way for someone to potentially showcase their food knowledge and at the same time provide a service that is always in demand, whether for weddings, parties or anything else. The person may take it upon themselves to cook some delicious meals or hire other workers as the business starts to grow
Crop Farming in Zimbabwe:
1. Tomatoes (1/4 Hectare): £400
Tomatoes take 3-4 months to harvest and the market for tomatoes is always there and produces a high return of profits. The beneficiary can re-invest some of the profits into new seedlings or save healthy seeds from their current batch to grow again next harvest. This provides them with a continuous system where they will be able to generate income for many years
The costs will cover seedlings, fertilizer, pesticides and other expenses
2. Beans Farming: £450
Natal Sugar Beans will be provided for growing and harvesting. The beans can then be sold after harvest for profits and new beans can be grown again to continue with the cycle
The costs will cover seeds, fertilizer, labour and other expenses
3. Maize Farming: £700
Maize is a staple crop, not just in Zimbabwe, but many countries across the globe and the harvest can be used in a variety of ways. It has many uses such as food for humans, feed for livestock or even for for chemical purposes which means there will always be demand for it. Maize can be grown year upon year providing a continuous source of food and profits for many years to come
The costs will cover seeds, labour, tillage, fertilizer, harvesting and other expenses
