THE HEART-BREAKING CALL OF WOMEN IN NEED

A huge amount of women are struggling on our doorstep with little or no family support.

Broken, abandoned, struggling financially, battling a chronic health condition, facing homelessness. These women have one thing in common: they don’t want a hand-out.

She wants to be back on her feet so she can be the pillar of her family.

We’ve been helping these female-led households behind closed doors. Now, you can help us to give them the practical, yet sustainable support they need. And in turn, she can give back to her community.

Help us help them and, in turn, they can help others.

The Story 

The victim of domestic abuse moving into a bare property. The homeless mother and her children placed in a bed and breakfast with no cooking facilities.

The vulnerable sister abandoned by her family, feeling lost and alone, looking in the wrong places for support. The single mother struggling to make a living and be financially independent.

The sister on her own with young children falling ill, not being able to do basic household tasks.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. These situations are real and on our doorstep. These sisters are forgotten in a society where others have extended families and friend support.

What is Duty On Our Doorstep?  

Duty On Our Doorstep is a campaign aimed to reach out and respond to female-led households in need, whatever their background, like a family would.

A group of volunteers aim to provide both emergency and long-term support in situations where women can’t access the help they need or don’t know where to turn.

Examples of support are:

-Household/family items support
-Food rotas & grocery support service
-Emergency advice & 1 on 1 support
-Women’s network & business support
circles
- Announcements and reminders
- Befriending 

Our unique aim is working towards Sustainable Support; where women in need are compensated for offering their skills or support to other sisters in need.

For example, supporting single mothers who can cook and deliver meals to other sisters in need. Or sisters with ICT skills, who are providers in their household,  helping other sisters launch a business to become self-sufficient.

How you can help?

1.By raising funds.

The funds raised will help provide those services to women with little or no family support need to get back on their feet.

The amount of women in need on our doorstep is increasing by the day. And rather than just providing emergency support or one-off hand-outs, you can be part of a true community change. Help us help them, and in turn, they can help others.
